ONE NATION UNDER GOD!

Wow! What an amazing time in our Country! As a Born Again Believer, I know with all confidence that God is in control of all my tomorrows...He has not changed, nor will He ever change, He does not sleep nor does He slumber. I have friends who call themselves "Liberal Christians" and friends who are "die hard conservatives" I myself was praying for a candidate who would protect life from conception...I just can't wrap my head around women who would chose to kill their children? It bewilders my mind.

I know this, God has established the Governing Authorities, He has called us to submit...Romans 13! I will be praying that our new President Elect is obedient to God's leading...that He acknowledges His Creator and humbles himself to walk in His ways, and that as God's people we will continue to live out loud for THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE and shine brightly for all to see, that they would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior...Redeemer and Restorer.

We have had a President for the last 8 years that has not elimnated Roe verses Wade. At this time is it not more important, as Christains, we concentrate on those that are faced with the decision and hopefully lead them to choose life. It concerns me that many Christians spend all their energy trying to change a law. Yet are not doing anything to help those that are faced with this decition. And are not willing to care for the children. Being commited to a cause is a good thing, Yet is it not better to be commited to a solution in hopes to change someones life. God is into Changing Lives and what a great oppertunity we have as Chistians to be part of this process. Go for it.

You are right-we do need to be hands and feet, living an active faith. Shouting from the rooftops that Jesus is Lord, Redeemer and Savior! I do not have the authority that a President or Judge has, but I do have the Power of the LIVING GOD inside of me.

Why is it people don't post their names when they respond, what do they fear people knowing their opinion??? I will post a response I sent to another friend...

The first thing I ask myself regarding Christians and politics is, should a Christian hold an office in government? In my quest for answers, I first went to the Bible. I found Proverbs 29:2, where it says “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” This verse seems to say that righteous people should be in office, and that when they are, it’s a good thing. In Exodus 18:21, God tells Moses to “provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness…” and put them in authority over the Israelites. I believe that’s what God would want us to do today in America.

Continuing my search, I went to history. In the Bible, there were many Godly men/women in government, like Joseph, Moses, Nehemiah, Daniel, Mordecai, Esther, and of course all the Godly leaders of Israel. Going to more recent history, I read about the Founding Fathers of our nation. Did you know that many of them were Christians? John Adams wrote in a letter, “The principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the principles of Christianity.” Benjamin Rush, another Founding Father, wrote that it was possible to be both Godly and in politics. So I decided that yes, definitely those Christians that can ought to run for offices in government.

My second question was, what are the duties of Christians that can’t run for an office, what should we be doing? I decided that there were three main things we should do: pray, obey, and vote.

The Bible is very clear that we should pray for our leaders in government. First Timothy 2:1-2 says, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

Scripture also plainly states that we are to obey those in authority over us, including the government. 1 Peter 2:13-14 says, “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.” Romans 13:7 says, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.” The only time we should disobey the government is when what they say to do is unscriptural.

The last duty of Christians is to vote. Charles Finney said, “The time has come for Christians to vote for honest men…God cannot sustain this free and blessed country…unless the Church will take right ground.

Christians must do their duty to their country as a part of their duty to God. It seems at times that the foundations of this Nation are rotten, and Christians seem to act as if they think God does not see what they do in regards to participation in politics. But I tell you, He does see, and He will bless or curse this nation according to the course Christians take in politics. It is not only our responsibility to be the hands/feet of Christ but it is also incumbent of every Christian to help good men and women get elected into office by voting and taking a stance on legislative issues. Christians should be involved in politics and running this country for the simple reason that this nation would very quickly fall apart.

Clearly we carry our Faith, values and our personal relationship with Christ out of our place of worship and back into the public square, our homes, to our neighbors and our families...we certainly don't DIVORCE ourselves from that. So how is it so called "Christian" men and women say that we should DIVORCE ourselves from endorsing legislation to protect life or marriage or make sure we elect Godly or God-fearing men and women into positions of authority over us? If God has control over all aspects of our lives including the political process than how is that topic off the table for discussion at Church? It isn't, and those who say it is are delusional.
